5 Minutes With… Emma Green

‘5 minutes with…’ is our interview series where we speak to employees at Moorgate and gain a deeper understanding of their roles and how they got to where they are today. Today we have Emma Green our Finance Director.

How did you get to your current role?

I joined Moorgate in November 2018 as Finance Manager, and seven and a half years later I’m now Finance Director, which still feels a bit surreal saying out loud.

Over that time, I’ve done a bit of everything, from managing Sales Support teams, to HR, Operations (including some IT that I’m still recovering from), as well as Compliance and Complaints. It’s given me a really solid, all-round understanding of how the business works.

What is a typical day like for you?

There genuinely isn’t one, which is probably what I enjoy most. Every day is different, one minute I’m crunching numbers, the next I’m dealing with operational challenges or working with different teams across the business. It definitely keeps things interesting and stops it ever feeling repetitive.

What is your biggest achievement?

Honestly, just being part of Moorgate. Being trusted, valued, and surrounded by such a great group of people is something I don’t take for granted.

We’ve always been strong on the sales side, but I caught myself this morning looking around at our Operations teams and just feeling really proud, they’re incredible at what they do and such a big part of what makes the business work.

What is the most challenging aspect of your role?

Keeping up with the pace. The business is always growing and changing, which is great, but it does mean you’ve constantly got to adapt and stay one step ahead.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?

The people, without a doubt. It’s what makes coming to work enjoyable and why it doesn’t really feel like a job at all! The team we’ve got makes a huge difference.

If you could sum up Moorgate in three words, what would they be?
