This 200+ year old event is steeped deep into German – and now British – traditions, all focused around enjoying delicious beer… what’s not to love.
A bit of background on Oktoberfest
The original festival took place on October 12th back in 1810. Eventually, the event was scheduled back to start in September as it does now, to take advantage of the nicer weather!
The official event is held annually in Munich, Germany and it is the largest folk festival in the world.
That said, beer is enjoyed all over the world in celebration of Oktoberfest and Britain is no exception.
Start your celebrations
As a British brewer, Oktoberfest is a key event for you to involve your business in. This year, the event will run from 16th September to 3rd October 2023.
Whilst it might be a bit late for this year, it’s worth considering what you could produce in celebration of the 2024 event like a new beer, glassware or merchandise.
Even if you don’t produce the sort of beer you’d normally see at Oktoberfest, it’s good to show your involvement and support for industry events, especially one as recognised as this.
If you can’t produce things yourself, be sure to give support to others around you who are.
Here’s a few ways you can still celebrate the event this year, even on a small scale:
- Try a new beer.
- Host a garden party.
- Take your brewers out for a German beer.
- Run an Oktoberfest Trivia quiz.
- Play beer pong with your best selling product.
- Have a German picnic.
