£100,000 GGS Funding for a Premises Upgrade

office with ggs and refurbishment

A construction and landscaping business were ready to invest in the refurbishment and development of their premises. The work was important for the business’s growth plans, but they wanted to make the investment without putting unnecessary pressure on their cash flow. A GGS (Growth Guarantee Scheme) facility provided a way to fund the investment while keeping working capital within the business.

The Highlights

£100,000 unsecured GGS loan over 60 months

£200 per month cheaper than the high street bank’s offer

No need to use cash reserves to fund the project

Premises refurbished and developed to support continued growth

The Challenge

The business had plans to carry out a number of improvements to its premises, including the installation of a mezzanine floor, enhanced security measures and internal office facilities. But the investment would have come with a significant upfront cost, so they wanted to find a solution that was right for their requirements.

The business had already approached their high street bank for funding and received an offer to cover the planned refurbishment and development work. While this gave them a route to funding the project, the monthly cost was an important consideration. With the right funding structure, there was an opportunity to reduce the cost of the borrowing while still providing the funds needed to complete the work.

The priority was to put the funding in place without unnecessarily tying up cash that could be used elsewhere in the business.

The Solution

Moorgate Finance arranged a £100,000 unsecured loan through the Growth Guarantee Scheme (GGS), over 60 months, providing the funding needed to refurbish and develop the business’s premises without securing the loan against its assets. The GGS is a government-backed scheme designed to support eligible smaller businesses in accessing finance, helping them invest in their business while managing cash flow.

The key difference was the cost. The business already had a funding offer from its high street bank, but we were able to secure a more competitive GGS facility, bringing the monthly repayment down by £200. Over the five-year term, that’s a potential £12,000 reduction in repayments compared with the original offer.

The funding gave the business the capital needed for the planned mezzanine floor, enhanced security measures and internal office facilities, while keeping more cash available within the business. With a more competitive funding package in place, the business could proceed with the refurbishment and development work while keeping its cash flow in a stronger position to support future growth.
